What are some things you love about your work at The Physio Co?

I love the flexibility of hours, and the support of the office staff for any problems that arise.

What do you love most about working with oldies?

I love spending time with our residents; chatting about their past, places they have been and things they have seen and done.  They always appreciate the time I spend with them and it's great to make a difference to their lives.

What's an example of something you've recently done to help a client?

I have a resident at one of the facilities I attend who is 101 and still goes out each week.  She has knee pain so I treat her each week, I prescribed her a knee supports and help her with ongoing pain relief.  It is a pleasure to be able to help her.

Tell us the Helen story...

I studied physio at Lincoln Institute in Melbourne and first worked at Latrobe Valley Hospital for 2 years.  Since then I have mostly worked in private practice. I lived in Tasmania, for 7 years and when  I returned to Victoria in 2000 I began working in Aged Care.  I joined TPC in 2006.  I have 4 children, 25, 23, and twin 19 year olds, with 3 at home at the moment.

Where is the most interesting place you have travelled to?

I just had 3 weeks off and we spent time in Sydney, walking around the city area and also in Tasmania where we caught up with old friends and revisited some of the sights.  We had a lovely clear day on Mt Wellington, and foolishly forgot that just because it was sunny and not snowing, didn't mean the wind chill was not extremely cold.  I think our hands and noses were close to dropping off!

What's something you're looking forward to?

This is a big year for us with our daughters wedding just past in January and our son's coming up in September.  It is also our 30th wedding anniversary in November.

Where's the most interesting place you've lived?

The most interesting place I have lived is Devonport, Tasmania.  Life is a bit slower there and there were heaps of things for the family to do,  It is on the coast, so you have the beach, but only an hour to cradle mountain and snow most of the year.  There are beautiful little towns all around with their own personalities. Penguin, with it's penguin shaped rubbish bins, Sheffield with it's murals, Latrobe with it's antique shops, and Black Rock with mountains and fishing, just to name a few.
