Scented candles and slippers are nice, but what would make senior mums truly happy?
To walk around the garden and enjoy the afternoon sun? The ability to bend easily to hug a grandchild, or great-grandkids? Making a cup of tea for a visiting friend?
It’s the little things we often take for granted that make mum’s days better.
Research shows that mobility is a major factor in general wellbeing and happiness, and having the support you need to make mobility and fitness a reality is key.
Improving Mum’s Happiness through Mobility
It’s not simply the act of being mobile that can increase happiness, but the value of the many experiences that mobility enables is beyond measure.
That’s why we took physiotherapy for seniors a few steps further and created a special new client package to support mum in achieving (and smashing) her goals: Stronger Start Physio Sessions.
Here’s what makes our new TPC Stronger Start Sessions unique, and how they work:
Establishing Real Connections
Identifying the best opportunities to enhance mum’s mobility starts with understanding her daily surroundings.
Our caring physios work with mum to determine how we can make the path to fitness and mobility less daunting. In the areas we service, our mobile physios do this through visits to Mum’s home or facility; outside those areas, we use a virtual approach (online/phone).
Setting Meaningful Goals
Goal setting is not merely about the process of how mum will reach her goals, but part of a larger shift in focus to a feeling of optimism.
Writing down those goals and real-life intended outcomes — like being able to walk the dog daily again — and associating them with essential mobility experiences, provides an important tool to foster a positive outlook.
This also plays a big role in keeping motivation high over time, and is part of our unique approach.
As mum works with her TPC physio to reach her goals, each milestone becomes clearer. Seeing how far she’s come, week to week, builds on those achievements and brings that mobility goal closer.
Tracking Progress
Keeping a record, even brief ones, of how mum’s thinking or feeling each day can give the brain some emotional relief.
Some days may be more difficult than others, and putting thoughts on paper can help regulate emotions and provide valuable perspective.
Making Time to Exercise (Gently)
We all know that regular exercise improves mood, reduces stress and improves sleep. Of course, we also realise it can be a challenge for any of us to get started and keep going!
However, making gentle exercise a part of Mum’s day may be easier than you think.
Our physios created an online exercise class specifically designed to improve mobility and flexibility for seniors.
Drawn from countless sessions with our senior clients, our online exercise classes are fully adaptable to suit anyone — that is, never too stressful, with plenty of go-at-your-own-pace options.
To make it even easier for Mum to enhance her mobility from the safety and comfort of home, our physios conduct our TPC online exercise classes securely using Zoom.
Putting it All Together
Stronger Start Sessions were specifically developed to give mum all of these benefits, whilst making mobility, fitness and wellbeing habits more of a regular routine.
Aside from achieving the immediate goals, this is part of our foundational approach to keeping mums mobile, safe and happy.
If this sounds like an ideal Mother’s Day gift, give mum more reasons to smile with her own Stronger Start Sessions package.
