For TPC client Sharon, 78, exercise has always been about more than just fitness, it’s also about connection.
Before her back surgery, Sharon loved going to our weekly exercise class run by our physio Ella at the retirement village where she lives, joining friends for a fun and social way to stay active.
But after surgery, Sharon faced a new challenge: she had lost strength and confidence, and her usual routine felt far out of reach. That’s when Sharon reached out to Katie, another TPC physiotherapist, and together they set a meaningful goal – to get Sharon back to Ella’s weekly exercise class.
Sharon then got to work!
Over a couple of months, Sharon built up her leg strength, gradually increased her walking distance (first with a stick, then on her own), and improved her balance step by step. With every bit of progress, she moved closer to reclaiming the routine she loved!
And then came the big moment: Sharon returned to Ella’s class! 💪 🎉
Sharon describes feeling “great”- she was proud to be back with her friends and achieving the level of strength and fitness she enjoyed before her surgery. For her physio Katie, it was incredible to see Sharon’s determination pay off and to watch her step confidently back into a space that brings her so much joy.
Sharon’s story is a reminder that recovery isn’t just about regaining movement – it’s about getting back to the things that make life meaningful.
Congratulations, Sharon, we’re so proud of you for smashing this goal and getting back into the class you love!
