At The Physio Co we believe that fostering strong relationships with our clients is more than just good service, it’s what makes us memorable.
One of our core values – Be Memorable – is about creating positive first impressions and leaving a lasting impact through genuine, friendly interactions.
What does this look like in action? Take for example TPC physio, Katie, and her experience with Ruth, 87. This story demonstrates how staying connected can make all the difference for our elderly clients.
Reduced mobility
Katie, pictured above, first started working with Ruth in July 2020, seeing her every week for about three years. Ruth was suffering from reduced mobility and back pain due to Parkinson’s disease.
During their time together, Katie helped Ruth manage her back pain, improve her strength, and become fit enough to participate in an exercise class run by her retirement village. Ruth even joined the village walking group, something she hadn’t been able to do before.
Katie worked with Ruth for a long time, building trust and a strong connection through their physio sessions. Unfortunately, about 18 months ago, Ruth had to switch providers due to changes in her Home Care Package. Despite this, Katie continued to check in with Ruth’s daughter from time to time, showing that her care extended beyond just scheduled sessions.
Though she hadn’t heard from them in a while, out of the blue Ruth’s daughter, Natalie, reached out to see if Katie would be available to see her Mum again for physiotherapy. She was, which thrilled Natalie because her Mum had always loved working with Katie as they not only got on well, but Ruth also experienced positive results from the sessions.
Genuine relationships
This story is a testament to the power of genuine relationships. Staying connected, even when circumstances change, shows our clients and their families they are valued beyond their sessions with us. It reflects our broader company-wide commitment to person-centred care, recognising that every interaction matters and that the bonds we build can have a lasting impact on the lives of those we support.
At The Physio Co, we encourage all our team members to nurture these connections, whether through a thoughtful check-in, remembering personal details, or simply being available when clients need us again. The bonds we build today can shape the care journeys of our clients tomorrow.
Rewarding moments
Katie has been recognised internally here at TPC because her story is such a heartwarming example of how staying in touch and showing care can lead to rewarding moments. As Ruth said during their first session back: “I’m so happy to see you (Katie) again.”
Well done, Katie, for living our value of Be Memorable, proving that a little extra effort in maintaining relationships can have a big impact on the lives of our clients and their families.
