Esther, one of our dedicated team members, has been working with John for over two years. In her recent session with him, Esther noticed that John was not himself and that his thought process was becoming a bit slower. Concerned, Esther picked up the phone to call his daughter-in-law Gabby, to check in to see if John had been unwell lately, and to share her concerns.Â
During the call, Gabby informed Esther that she would be unable to see her father-in-law as often over the next few weeks.
In that moment, the conversation shifted from a routine update to something much more meaningful. Understanding the family’s situation, Esther offered to provide extra sessions over the next two weeks to ensure John had the support he needed while his family was away.
Active, safe and engaged
Not only did they arrange for additional physiotherapy, but they also discussed getting John a new walker and Therabands to assist with his mobility. Within a week, John had both pieces of equipment in hand, helping him stay active, safe, and engaged.
John’s goal? To be able to walk to his local park where he can sit on his favourite bench and listen to the frogs in the pond nearby!
